About Me
My name is Alexander, and I recently graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo with both a bachelor and master of science degree in computer science. My master’s research is focused on a distributed performance monitoring and testing framework based on Mark Gabel’s past work on CAMP. Starting in September of 2009 I will be working for NetApp, Inc. as a software engineer in their Performance Engineering Group.

I was born and raised on Pasadena, CA and went to high school at Loyola High School in Los Angeles. If you couldn’t tell by my last name, my family is Greek—and I am a first generation Greek-American. However, I am not really that Greek: I’m not Greek Orthodox, I don’t speak Greek, and I can hardly folk dance. I do have a thick beard and healthy appetite for Greek cuisine, though.
My non-academic interests lie in a strong dichotomy of outdoor activities and straight-up-computer-science-geekiness. I love soccer and golf and tennis and hiking and biking and almost anything else that involves being outside in the sun. In contrast, I also love learning about and using current technologies ranging from professional audio and broadcast to web services and embedded systems. My real passions are in web development (ColdFusion, PHP/CodeIgniter), church software and services, and integrating various related industry technologies into viable solutions.
To learn more about the kinds of things I do in my spare time and see some of my shenanigans, check out my photos and resume. I would also love to hear from you, so be sure to get in touch with me. Thanks for stopping by.
